THE POSITION

Make your mark by leading environmental efforts that keep major projects moving forward! The District Environmental Manager position with the Department of Transportation allows you to review plans, guide policies, and support safe construction practices. You will help ensure that environmental commitments are met and that projects stay in line with state and federal requirements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both leadership and hands-on problem solving.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role oversees the review of transportation plans and related environmental requirements to ensure full compliance with laws and policies. It supports the development and evaluation of environmental programs and commitments across the District. As a District Environmental Manager, you will perform the following duties: Environmental Review: Coordinate environmental analyses and guide preparation of required reports Permit Management: Support waterway permitting activities and ensure permit requirements are met Program Compliance: Assist with monitoring and improving district programs related to Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System and Strategic Environmental Management Program Policy Development: Help shape district policies for stormwater control measure design and maintenance Mitigation Oversight: Manage district commitments involving environmental mitigation and related inspections Interested in learning more? QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Seven years of professional planning experience in local, regional, or state planning including two years in a supervisory capacity; or Two years of experience as an Environmental Planning Supervisor; or A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and five years of professional planning experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: This particular position also requires a Class C driver's license. You must meet the PA residency requirement .
