Role Overview
The Director, Strategic Projects & Analytics provides strategic leadership for the No Frills business in Western Canada.
The role covers capital planning and execution, business analytics, annual planning, and key banner initiatives.
The Director works with the No Frills Leadership Team, Owner-Operators, and cross-functional enterprise partners.
Strategic Projects and Capital Execution
- Lead major and minor capital initiatives, including new store openings, renovations, and new business strategies, from planning through execution.
- Lead strategic cross-functional projects with clear scope, timelines, accountabilities, performance measures, and execution plans.
- Partner with Operations, Capital Planning, Merchandising, Business Development, and enterprise teams to align investments and store execution with banner priorities.
- Oversee capital planning and governance processes, including approvals, budget alignment, and investment tracking.
- Develop business recommendations, presentations, and communications for senior leadership and the No Frills Owner-Operator community.
Strategy, Analytics, and Planning
- Lead analytics and decision support for long-term strategy, annual planning, and key business priorities.
- Translate complex data and business information into clear insights, recommendations, and actionable plans.
- Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend actions to support business objectives.
- Establish performance measures and reporting to assess results and drive continuous improvement.
- Translate strategic priorities into execution roadmaps for Operations, project teams, and stores.
Leadership and Stakeholders
- Serve as a strategic partner to the No Frills Leadership Team, Owner-Operators, and cross-functional enterprise partners.
- Build relationships across the organization to align stakeholders, influence decisions, and drive successful execution.
- Establish governance and communication routines to maintain alignment on priorities, decisions, risks, and deliverables.
- Lead planning and coordination of key banner and regional leadership meetings.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive business experience, preferably in retail, merchandising, operations, strategy, analytics, or project management.
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives from strategy and planning through execution.
- Strong analytical and business acumen, problem-solving skills, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel within Canada based on business needs.
Preferred Knowledge
- Strong retail systems and operational knowledge is preferred, including SAP, BOSS, planograms, floorplans, and IPFR.
- Candidates may demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies quickly instead of possessing all listed retail systems knowledge.
Compensation
- Hiring range is CAD 120,000 to CAD 154,000 per year.
- Pay may reflect the candidate's experience, knowledge, and the geographical region of the position.
