Director of Operations – Bus Transport (Hajj & Umrah Fleet)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Director of Operations to lead and manage a rapidly growing transport business specializing in Hajj and Umrah services.

The company currently operates a fleet of 50+ buses, expanding to 150+ vehicles, and requires a strong operational leader to ensure efficiency, reliability, and full control across all transport activities.

This role is responsible for end-to-end operational performance, including fleet management, driver oversight, maintenance, service delivery, and reporting to ownership.

Fleet & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the entire bus fleet across multiple locations
  • Ensure maximum fleet utilization and minimal downtime
  • Monitor and manage dispatch, scheduling, and route planning
  • Implement systems to track daily fleet status, trips, and performance

Driver & Staff Management

  • Manage drivers, dispatchers, and operational staff
  • Enforce discipline, attendance, and performance standards
  • Handle recruitment, training, and performance evaluations

Maintenance & Asset Control

  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained to high operational standards
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules
  • Reduce breakdowns and operational disruptions

Cost & Efficiency Control

  • Monitor fuel consumption and prevent misuse
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement cost-saving measures
  • Improve revenue per bus and operational margins

Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Establish and maintain real-time reporting systems
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
  • Track KPIs such as utilization, downtime, trip completion, and incidents

Incident & Risk Management

  • Oversee handling of breakdowns, delays, and customer complaints
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues

Client & Service Delivery

  • Ensure high service quality for Hajj and Umrah clients
  • Coordinate with agents, partners, and stakeholders
  • Maintain strong operational relationships with clients

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in transport / fleet operations
  • Proven experience managing large bus fleets (50+ vehicles minimum)
  • Experience in Hajj / Umrah transport operations (highly preferred)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience implementing operational systems and reporting structures
  • Deep understanding of fleet maintenance and logistics
  • Ability to manage high-pressure, large-scale seasonal operations
