About the Role
Allen Control Systems, a defense startup, seeks a Director of Manufacturing & Site Launch to scale production operations in Austin, TX and lead the launch of a new facility in Cullman, AL.

Responsibilities
- Support Austin manufacturing scale up from early production to stable medium volume output
- Lead Cullman facility launch including planning, build out, equipment installation, process validation, and production ramp
- Develop production transfer strategy and execute roadmap for transferring products and processes from Austin to Cullman
- Build scalable manufacturing systems including work instructions, training, quality controls, and operating rhythms
- Partner on facility layout, line design, equipment selection, and commissioning for Cullman site
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of manufacturing teams in both locations
- Work cross functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations teams
- Drive daily manufacturing performance through Lean principles, bottleneck reduction, cost control, and operational discipline
Requirements
- Experience scaling manufacturing operations from prototype/low rate production into medium or high volume production
- Experience launching or significantly expanding manufacturing facilities, including equipment deployment and process validation
- Experience leading production transfers or multi site manufacturing operations
- Strong operational leadership with ability to execute in fast paced startup or scale up environments
- Willingness to initially work in Austin, TX and transition to Cullman, AL

Position Overview
- Seeking a manufacturing leader to support scale up of production operations under the VP of Manufacturing.
- Initially based in Austin, TX, then transition to Cullman, AL for facility launch and long term operations.
