About the Role

The Director of Engineering oversees engineering, maintenance, facilities management, and asset protection across the hotel property.

The role combines strategic leadership with technical expertise to maintain safety, reliability, sustainability, and luxury standards.

The position leads the engineering team, manages budgets, and serves as the hotel’s lead authority for facilities, life safety systems, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and maintenance operations across the property.
  • Develop and execute an engineering strategy aligned with hotel, brand, and owner objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital projects, and long-term asset protection plans.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance for HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Lead sustainability and energy conservation initiatives.
  • Ensure regulatory, health, safety, environmental, and life safety compliance.
  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Manage relationships with owners, contractors, consultants, and regional engineering leaders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven leadership experience in luxury hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, or complex hospitality environments.
  • Technical expertise in engineering operations, facilities management, preventive maintenance, and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Experience managing budgets, capital projects, service contracts, and operational efficiencies.
  • Experience leading emergency preparedness and life safety programs in large-scale facilities.
  • Collaborative leadership style and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Technical qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Construction, Mechanics, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant hospitality or facilities management experience.
