Director of Engineering - InterContinental The Red Sea Resort

Job Purpose

Engineering Operations

• Lead daily Engineering Department operations and ensure facility, equipment, and engineering-system reliability.
• Develop preventive and corrective maintenance programs to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.
• Respond promptly to engineering emergencies, equipment breakdowns, and guest-related maintenance issues.
• Conduct inspections and identify risks, defects, and maintenance requirements.

Compliance and Efficiency

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental, statutory, brand, and Saudi Arabian requirements.
• Monitor energy, water, and utility consumption and implement efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support sustainability and environmental initiatives and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Projects and Finance

• Prepare and manage annual departmental budgets, operating expenses, and capital expenditure requirements.
• Plan and oversee engineering projects, renovations, refurbishments, and major repairs.
• Coordinate with hotel departments to address maintenance needs while minimizing operational and guest disruption.

People and Supplier Management

• Lead, supervise, train, and develop Engineering team members.
• Manage contractors, consultants, and external service providers to agreed safety and quality standards.
• Promote safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Reporting and Records

• Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, equipment performance, and engineering projects.
• Provide the General Manager with reports on operations, projects, maintenance, energy consumption, and departmental performance.

Role Capabilities

• The role requires leadership of the Engineering Department and hotel engineering operations.
• The role requires management of maintenance programs, MEP systems, budgets, projects, contractors, and engineering personnel.
• The role requires compliance with applicable Saudi Arabian and hotel engineering standards.
