Job Overview

  • The Director of Human Resources reports to the Hotel General Manager with a dotted line to the Regional Senior Director of HR, and serves on the hotel Executive Committee.
  • Provides high level HR generalist knowledge and expertise for the hotel, overseeing talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, and employee development.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; 4 years HR, management, or related experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; 2 years HR, management, or related experience.

Managing HR Strategy

  • Execute and follow up on engagement survey activities.
  • Build talent management pipelines supporting diversity strategies.
  • Translate business priorities into hotel HR strategies.
  • Implement and sustain HR initiatives.
  • Coordinate human capital review and lead succession planning.
  • Assess hotel leadership pipeline through human capital review.
  • Create value through initiatives impacting performance or cost.
  • Oversee manager and employee use of myHR.
  • Lead succession management and workforce planning.
  • Serve as key change manager for employee impacting initiatives.
  • Attend owner meetings as Executive Committee member.
  • Oversee hotel HR and market based HR expert resources.

Managing Staffing and Recruitment

  • Analyze open positions to balance talent development and business needs.
  • Serve as coach and expert coordinator for selection and interview processes.
  • Identify opportunities in workflow and staffing optimization.
  • Make personnel decisions and manage talent pipeline.
  • Develop staffing strategies with hiring managers.
  • Monitor procurement and staffing process outcomes.
  • Ensure managers can evaluate hourly employees.

Managing Employee Compensation

  • Stay informed on internal and external compensation and job market.
  • Lead total compensation strategy for hourly employees.
  • Support communication and use of total compensation systems.
  • Participate in quarterly internal equity analysis.
  • Create and implement recognition and reward programs.

Managing Employee Development

  • Ensure completion of HR staff duties as described in job descriptions.
  • Ensure HR staff are trained to respond to employee inquiries.
  • Serve as resource for HR staff on employee relations issues.
  • Reinforce positive employee relations philosophy.
