Job Summary
The employer is seeking a Diploma or BE Mechanical Engineer with practical experience in industrial and marine fabrication, structural fabrication, and welding.
The role coordinates and supervises workshop and site fabrication activities for industrial, marine, and offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily fabrication activities and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Supervise welders, fabricators, pipe fitters, and workshop personnel.
- Coordinate cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, drilling, assembly, and finishing activities.
- Supervise fabrication of structural steel, marine structures, skids, equipment supports, platforms, ladders, handrails, brackets, containers, and mechanical components.
- Monitor welding procedures, fit-up, alignment, dimensions, quality, project progress, schedules, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate materials, manpower, QA/QC inspections, NDT, load testing, certification, workshop activities, and site installation.
- Maintain fabrication tools and equipment and ensure HSE procedures, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and safe working practices are followed.
- Support troubleshooting and modification work for marine and industrial projects.
Required Technical Knowledge
- Structural steel, marine, offshore, mechanical fabrication, and assembly knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of SMAW/ARC, MIG/MAG, and TIG welding processes is required.
- Knowledge of carbon steel and stainless-steel fabrication, drawings, welding symbols, material identification, and measurement is required.
- Knowledge of fit-up, dimensional inspection, NDT, load testing, surface preparation, painting, galvanizing, material take-off, and fabrication planning is required.
Qualification and Experience
- A diploma or BE in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution is required.
- Two to five years of relevant experience in industrial, marine, offshore, or structural fabrication is required.
- UAE or GCC experience is advantageous.
- Experience supervising welders and fabricators is preferred.
- Experience with marine or offshore projects is highly desirable.
- Additional technical or welding certifications are advantageous.
Compensation
- The source lists pay as AED 2 to AED 2,500 per month.
Workplace
- Work location is in person and includes workshop and site fabrication activities.
