Role overview
South Yorkshire Police is recruiting Digital Forensic Analysts for its Crime Services department in Sheffield.
The role supports police investigations by securing and retrieving data from digital devices in accordance with national guidelines.
The role requires resilience when handling distressing material, including child sexual abuse material, and includes regular occupational health assessments.
Key responsibilities
- Secure and retrieve evidence from mobile phones, computers, and other digital devices under DFU procedures and forensic standards.
- Process and analyse recovered data using recognised forensic software and techniques.
- Present findings to investigating officers, the CPS, and courts, including attendance at court.
- Maintain contemporaneous examination notes and competency for ISO 17025 accredited processes.
- Mentor staff, perform peer review and quality assurance, and provide technical support to officers.
- Assist with search warrants, digital device seizure guidance, investigation briefings, and forensic examination strategies.
- Research new products and techniques and support audits, method validation, projects, and training.
