About the Role
The Armed Forces Retirement Home seeks a Dietitian to perform nutritional evaluations, develop screening programs, plan therapeutic menus, and ensure compliance with JCAHO standards.

Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the timely nutritional evaluation and for assessment of residents admitted to the medical areas
- Be responsible for developing and implementing nutritional screening on every resident of AFRH
- Plan cycle therapeutic diet menus and analyze nutritional content of regular and modified diets
- Be responsible for developing, planning and implementing the required manuals and documentation to meet the dietary standards for Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)
Requirements
- Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science from an ACEND accredited program
- Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS 9 level in the Federal service, including directing food service management activities in food quality control, food safety/sanitation, and dietetic services
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science from an ACEND accredited program
- Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by American Dietetic Association for dietitians or nutritionists
- Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- One year of specialized experience at the GS 9 level in the Federal service, including directing specialized activities of food service management in food quality control, food safety/sanitation, and dietetic services
Conditions of Employment
- Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
- All newly appointed employees are subject to a probationary period
- Must successfully complete a background investigation
- Submit to a drug test prior to appointment
- Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program
