Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, service, rebuild, overhaul, and repair a variety of heavy wheeled vehicles
- Ensure all maintenance inspections, servicing, rebuilds, overhauls and repairs are accomplished in accordance with technical manuals, KPIs and OEM specifications
- Perform quality maintenance repairs as part of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System program
- Perform heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections to determine extent of repair and spare parts requirements
- Perform heavy wheeled vehicle troubleshooting using special tools and diagnostic test equipment
- Replace heavy wheeled vehicle major assemblies (engines, transmissions, transfer cases and differentials) and subassemblies (starters, alternators, generators and pumps)
- Ensure all maintenance order spare parts residue is returned to the Workshop store
- Perform heavy wheeled vehicle spare parts research to ensure only required spare parts are requisitioned
- Complete maintenance related documentation such as maintenance tasks accomplished, direct labour hours consumed, vehicle specific information, spare part request forms
- Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives
- Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information
Requirements
- Experience as a diesel mechanic on heavy wheeled vehicles
- Knowledge of technical manuals, KPIs, and OEM specifications
- Ability to use special tools and diagnostic test equipment
- Ability to perform heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections
- Ability to replace major assemblies and subassemblies
- Ability to complete maintenance documentation
- Compliance with safety, housekeeping, and environmental directives
