Dialysis Technician

Administration of Heparin and Normal Saline, as required and ordered.

Perform pre-dialysis safety tests and document properly.

Check, adjust and record blood flow rate, machine pressures, Heparin dosage/administration when taking blood pressure during treatment procedure.

Make rounds to assigned patients, anticipate needs, answer patients' calls, and respond to visual and audible alarms of equipment.

Ensure all safety parameters on the equipment are set and maintained.

Assist in the positioning, lifting, and turning of patients using proper body mechanics.

Take vital signs before, during and after dialysis procedure to assigned patients.

Monitor patients during dialysis procedure.

Report any unusual changes, signs or symptoms to the nurse.

Obtain blood specimen as ordered and required.

Label blood properly and complete requisitions.

Spin blood specimens in the Centrifuge, as required and directed.

Complete appropriate documentation after each task.

Report unusual events to the immediate supervisor.
