About the Role

- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high performance backend services and distributed systems for large scale model inference
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and design of the inference platform focusing on low latency, high throughput services
- Architect and implement core services for Agent Development Kit (ADK) and other AI orchestration frameworks
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency of systems in production using monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Partner cross functionally with release management, QA, product, and engineering teams
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (GCP) and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes
- Promote and implement best practices for backend service development, testing, deployment, and monitoring (DevOps, SRE)
Requirements
- Extensive hands on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining distributed systems at scale, including GCP and Kubernetes
- Expertise in Python / Node.js / Golang for building high performance, low latency systems
- Familiarity with AI agent orchestration frameworks (ADK, Claude SDK, LangGraph, etc.)
- Familiarity with microservice architectures, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

The opportunity
- We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer to join our Engine AI team, a small high impact team building internal AI tools and infrastructure.
- You will design, develop, and maintain backend infrastructure for internal AI solutions, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability of inference systems.
- This role offers the unique opportunity to actively build and shape the Agentic tools that will drive a new era of productivity across Unity.
What you'll be doing
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high performance, production grade backend services and distributed systems to support large scale model inference.
- Contribute significantly to the technical roadmap and design of our inference platform, focusing on low latency, high throughput services.
- Architect and implement core services for the Agent Development Kit (ADK) and other AI orchestration frameworks, enabling reliable state management and complex multi agent workflows.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems in production using monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Partner cross functionally with release management, release QA, product, and engineering teams to align solutions with strategic business needs.
- Manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure (GCP) and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes.
- Promote and implement best practices for backend service development, testing, deployment, and monitoring (DevOps, SRE).
What we're looking for

You might also have
- A DevOps or SRE background with experience in infrastructure automation.
- Experience building GitHub integrations or automated developer tooling.
- Experience and a passion for building tools specifically for internal developer workflows.
Salary
- Gross pay annually: CAD 125,300 175,300.
