Position Duties

• ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions are fundamental job duties. They do not include marginal tasks which are also performed but are incidental to the primary functions. Operates control panels and equipment in detention control rooms; Coordinates entry and exit into multiple secured areas in normal and emergency conditions; Answers telephones and directs calls; Monitors audio and video surveillance equipment associated with detention security; Answers intercom calls; Logs visitors into and out of the facility; Monitors and reports inmate behavior which includes foul or profane language and obscene gestures; Maintains logs of daily operations; Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to type accurately. Ability to listen. Stand for long periods of time. Work shift work. KNOWLEDGE OF: Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office policies and procedures. ENVIRONMENT: Indoors in heavily secured areas. ABILITY TO: Speak clearly and distinctly in well modulated pleasant voice using correct grammar and choice of words; react calmly during emergency situations and utilize common sense and interpersonal skills when dealing with excited persons; write detailed and legible reports. SKILLS: Operate a computer; operate a multi-line telephone, deal effectively with the public.
