Job Summary

The Design Engineer develops plant engineering designs and deliverables for water treatment systems.

The role covers civil and structural design, equipment, piping, supports, as-built drawings, and equipment layouts.

The role uses 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Plant 3D.

The engineer develops plant 3D models and deliverables from engineering documentation and supports compliance with ASME B31.3 and B31.1.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Draft equipment and foundation layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare plant 3D models from basic engineering documents.
  • Prepare BIM models, coordinate models, and produce construction or fabrication drawings to LOD 400.
  • Perform peer reviews using quality procedures for skid deliverables.
  • Review PFDs and PIDs, design equipment layouts and skid pipe routing, and extract annotated drawings.
  • Prepare bills of quantity, support spacing information, clash reports, and compliance reports.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and verify pipe-routing flexibility.
  • Ensure BIM standards and project requirements are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead a group of engineers as Lead Skid Engineer and assist with manufacturing problem solving.
  • Consider customer specifications, schedule, budget, and productivity together.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering experience.
  • Seven to ten years of mechanical design experience in water, power, oil and gas, or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, or Autodesk Plant 3D.
  • Strong BIM modeling, coordination, and documentation capability, including LOD 400 development.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1 standards.
  • Knowledge of specified carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel piping materials.
