What We Are Seeking : The Department of Public Defense seeks to hire a Design & Construction Engineer 2. Who We Are: Our Agency directly supports the Iowa National Guard sustainment, readiness and modernization, providing support so they can fulfill their missions in Iowa’s communities or their work for the State during emergencies or times of need. What You’ll Do : Project Scope & Planning: Work directly with military training personnel to draft Scopes of Work (SOWs) and present them to leadership for prioritizing on the master project list. Design Management: Solicit proposals from design consultant firms, negotiate fees, and guide external architects and engineers through the design phase to prepare projects for open bidding. Bidding & Contracting: Assist the bidding process, issue addenda, evaluate bids, and recommend construction contract awards. Construction Management: Act as the Owner's Representative from contract award through final acceptance. Key duties include leading project meetings, conducting site inspections, managing submittals via Procore, handling change orders, and tracking project progress to substantial completion.
