· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
· Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), where Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL services form part of the database environment, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA); Oracle Database Administration Professional, where Oracle is a primary database platform; EDB PostgreSQL Associate or Professional, where PostgreSQL is extensively used; a recognised certification relating to the organisation’s enterprise backup and recovery platform; Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), where Azure infrastructure forms part of the role’s environment; and ITIL Foundation (current version) are advantageous.
· A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in database administration, infrastructure database services, backup and recovery, high availability and disaster recovery within enterprise environments.
· Hands-on experience administering enterprise database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, with practical exposure to MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis.
· Experience with Oracle backup, recovery, security and high-availability technologies, including RMAN and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
· Practical experience managing enterprise database backup, restoration and recovery using Commvault, including scheduled recovery testing and disaster-recovery readiness.
· Experience supporting databases and persistent workloads deployed on Kubernetes-based container platforms, including SUSE Rancher, Portworx and Helm.
· Experience monitoring database availability, capacity, performance and infrastructure dependencies using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch and Datadog.
· Experience applying secure database access and credential-management practices, including integration with enterprise secrets-management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault.
· Experience supporting database high availability, replication, failover, backup validation and disaster-recovery testing across on-premises and cloud or hybrid environments.
