Position Summary
The Data Scientist will focus on time series modeling and control systems for quantum sensor applications.
The role develops predictive algorithms, identifies dynamic patterns and anomalies, and supports real-time automated decision-making.
The position bridges data science, physics, and engineering disciplines.
Location and Working Arrangement
- This is a full-time position based at Infleqtion’s Kidlington, Oxford office.
- Working from home is permitted up to 2 days per week based on business needs and manager approval.
- Work is normally performed in an office and laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement time series models for forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
- Integrate predictive models into live quantum sensors with product and engineering teams.
- Evaluate deployed models and develop tools and pipelines for continuous refinement.
- Analyze large-scale sensor and telemetry data from quantum sensor systems.
- Manage technical priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a STEM field such as mathematics, science, or engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong Python programming skills, including NumPy, Pandas, and scikit-learn.
- Experience creating and developing Python libraries.
- Experience designing, implementing, and training machine learning models from scratch.
- Strong applied mathematics and physics foundations, including statistical modeling, systems dynamics, and differential equations.
- Familiarity with Git, code review, unit testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience writing clean, efficient, modular production code.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with AMO physics or quantum machine learning.
- Experience with MLOps practices.
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka, MQTT, or real-time data pipelines.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expertise in ARIMA, VAR, Prophet, LSTM, or other time series techniques.
- Knowledge of PID controllers, Kalman filters, model predictive control, or reinforcement learning.
- Familiarity with lower-level data pipeline development in C++ or Rust.
Travel and Physical Requirements
- Up to 10% travel, including international travel, may be required.
- The role involves sitting, standing, walking, and lifting or carrying up to 10 kilograms.
