Position Overview

Nokia is hiring three Data Science Co-op/Interns.

The role focuses on AI-powered applications, automation, data analytics, and practical solutions for engineering and operational workflows.

Term

  • The placement lasts four months, from January 4, 2027 through April 30, 2027.

Workplace

  • The role is hybrid in Ottawa, Canada.

Education Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree or a college diploma at an accredited Canadian university or college in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Preferred study areas include data science, computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, statistics, mathematics, or related programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and evaluate AI-powered applications using LLMs, agentic AI, RAG, and intelligent workflow automation.
  • Analyze workflows, identify automation opportunities, and translate business requirements into AI-driven solutions.
  • Develop Python applications, APIs, and automation tools using AI-assisted development platforms.
  • Analyze engineering and operational data to produce reports, dashboards, visualizations, and actionable insights.
  • Participate in Agile activities, design reviews, AI adoption initiatives, workshops, and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills

  • Strong Python programming experience and familiarity with software development, automation frameworks, APIs, and application design.
  • Knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents, and agentic workflows.
  • Experience with Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools.
  • Understanding of data analytics, statistics, data modeling, and visualization techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and continuous learning skills.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar AI application frameworks is advantageous.
  • Exposure to AI guardrails, LLM evaluation, observability, tracing, monitoring, and AI application lifecycle management is advantageous.
  • Experience with enterprise applications, Grafana, Splunk, Power BI, Git workflows, CI/CD, hackathons, research, or AI extracurricular activities is advantageous.
