The Data Protection and Governance Director will be responsible for developing the global strategy, framework, and policies for data governance, including but not limited to data ownership, classification, protection, and retention. Additionally, this role will work with regulatory compliance professionals to aid in our approach to compliance with applicable data protection regulations such as privacy, controlled unclassified information, and export controlled data.
This individual must be a strategic and influential leader, with experience managing a global data protection and governance program, including educating company leaders on data-related risks and opportunities, building strong alliances to maintain organizational alignment, and working as a hands-on partner with functional leaders to seamlessly integrate data governance into our business operations.

Strategic Program Development & Leadership
Design, implement, and lead the enterprise-wide data protection and governance strategy, vision, and roadmap.
Serve as a strategic visionary and influential partner to organizational leadership, educating stakeholders on their critical roles in support of the data governance program, and helping to integrate sound governance principles into the global organizational strategy.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the data protection and governance program's effectiveness, maturity, and business value.
Serve as the subject matter expert on data protection strategies in support of applicable data regulations such as privacy, trade, and other government-controlled data requirements impacting our global operations.
Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, controls, and training to ensure and demonstrate compliance.
Oversee the data incident response process in partnership with the Cybersecurity team.
Support and contribute to a comprehensive AI governance framework specific to data integrity, protection, and privacy risk.
Own and oversee overall effectiveness of our Acceptable Use Policy pertaining to the use of information and technology resources and other policies supporting the proper handling and protection of data within our environment.
Establish an effective data governance system of management through which data stewards, representing core business functions, embrace data governance responsibilities and integrate related controls into our day-to-day operations.
Develop a practical business glossary, data classification schema, and enterprise data retention schedules.
