About the Role
The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) seeks a Data Manager for digital cardiovascular research within the Emmy Noether project. The role involves managing access to large genomic and phenotypic databases, data management and pipeline infrastructure in cloud computing, and coordinating data exchange.

Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain systematic access to large genomic and phenotypic databases (especially UK Biobank and All of Us)
- Manage data management and pipeline infrastructure within dedicated cloud computing structures such as DNAnexus and All of Us Cloud Infrastructure
- Structure and harmonize registry and patient data collected in the clinical work package (WP4), including support for maintaining the TRUST cohort
- Coordinate data protection compliant data exchange and rights management between postdocs and doctoral students of the team and the TRUST group
- Design and implement automated pipelines for quality assurance and AI supported anomaly detection in heterogeneous clinical datasets
- Establish uniform code standards and version control procedures to ensure reproducible data processing across the project
Requirements
- Completed vocational training in IT or university degree in data science, (bio )informatics, (bio )statistics, or related quantitative field
- Technical competence in data science and data engineering, demonstrated by GitHub presence, publications, or project portfolio
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), object storage (e.g., MinIO), and version control systems including CI/CD pipelines with Git and GitLab
- Proficient in Python and R for data analysis
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
- Experience with clinical trial data standards (e.g., CDISC SDTM/ADaM) and/or medical ontologies (SNOMED CT, LOINC) preferred
- Practical experience in administration of Linux based research infrastructures or workload automation preferred

Position Overview
- At the University Heart and Vascular Center (UHZ) of the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE), clinical and translational cardiovascular research is integrated into daily patient care.
- The ecosystem connects comprehensively phenotyped cohort studies including biobanking, structured follow ups, and modern computational methods.
- The DFG funded Emmy Noether project focuses on risk stratification for atrial fibrillation and heart failure using large scale epidemiological data, cloud infrastructures, and machine learning.
Your Tasks
- Set up and maintain systematic access to large genomic and phenotypic databases (especially UK Biobank and All of Us).
