Your opportunity

  • As a Data Analyst, you will support the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of institutional research data.
  • You will apply expertise in data management, business analysis, and reporting to improve data quality, consistency, and accessibility.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Developing information management methods to optimize data use
  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making
  • Handling complex and/or sensitive information
  • Developing and revising business methods that support administrative workflow and objectives
  • Analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing technical solutions for improvements
  • Probing for information to determine requirements for ad hoc data requests

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent combination
  • Minimum five years of recent experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or institutional reporting
  • Experience integrating, validating, and managing data from multiple enterprise systems
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
  • Experience creating and maintaining standardized datasets, reporting assets, and data structures
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical solutions
  • Experience developing technical documentation including data dictionaries, business definitions, data lineage, and reporting methodologies
  • Experience performing data profiling, validation, and data quality analysis
  • Experience using programming or scripting languages for data analysis and automation (e.g., Python, R)
  • Experience developing semantic models, business data layers, or dimensional data structures
  • Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis using complex relational databases
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex datasets and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies

Assets (Nonessential)

  • Experience with data catalogues, metadata repositories, or data governance tools
  • Experience contributing to data governance, master data management, or data quality initiatives
  • Experience conducting dashboard reviews, utilization assessments, or reporting optimization initiatives
  • Experience supporting data modernization or analytics transformation initiatives
  • Experience delivering training, knowledge transfer, or user support for data and analytics tools

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone

  • USW Pay Band 13 CAD 86,340 with annual step progression to maximum CAD 110,415
