Data Analyst

Role Purpose

Core Analytical Skills

• Deliver analytical outputs that convert complex data into clear insight, recommendations, and measurable business value.
• Clean and prepare data accurately.
• Use Excel, SQL, statistical methods, and Python or R for analysis.
• Create clear visualizations and explain insights simply.
• Partner with business, technology, risk, finance, operations, and data teams.

Key Accountabilities

• Design, enhance, and govern dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical frameworks.
• Conduct deep-dive analysis to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, opportunities, and risks.
• Ensure outputs are accurate, complete, controlled, and aligned with data quality, privacy, security, and regulatory expectations.
• Provide expertise on data interpretation, metric definitions, business logic, and analytical best practices.
• Improve reporting, automate manual analysis, improve data quality, and enhance stakeholder self-service.
• Take responsibility for requirements capture, data sourcing, validation, interpretation, presentation, and stakeholder sign-off.

Data and Analytics Delivery

• Investigate data quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source issues.
• Document data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations.
• Design and build data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
• Apply advanced analytical techniques to uncover trends and correlations.
• Develop validated logical data models and use machine learning or AI where applicable.
• Create interactive dashboards and visual reports and automate regular and ad hoc reporting.

Required Capabilities

• Demonstrate technical and business knowledge across data analysis, reporting, visualization, data quality, metric design, and business performance interpretation.
• Understand business-area drivers and use them to shape insight, challenge assumptions, and influence outcomes.
• Make evaluative judgments using factual information, analytical evidence, business context, and appropriate challenge of data limitations.
• Resolve problems through analytical expertise, business understanding, and appropriate escalation.
• Communicate complex, sensitive, or technical information clearly to different audiences.

Leadership and Governance

• Lead analytical workstreams or small teams where required and guide priorities and output quality.
• For individual contributor scope, act as a trusted analytics adviser and guide colleagues and stakeholders.
• Advise and influence decision-making and contribute to policy development and operational effectiveness.
• Identify and implement policies, procedures, controls, and analytical standards for risk mitigation.
• Take ownership of risk management and control strengthening for assigned work.
• Collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
