Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME

The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME will:

• Provide expert cybersecurity engineering and strategic guidance in support of mission-critical DoD and U.S. Space Force programs
• Lead the research, design, implementation, and assessment of cybersecurity solutions to meet program requirements and security objectives
• Support the integration of security controls and architectures across classified systems and networks
• Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity requirements
• Conduct security assessments, program reviews, and risk analyses, providing recommendations to mitigate vulnerabilities and strengthen security posture
• Evaluate technical, schedule, and operational impacts of cybersecurity initiatives and system changes
• Support configuration management processes and assess security implications of proposed modifications to systems and architectures
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, program leadership, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of cybersecurity objectives
• Track cybersecurity-related action items, compliance activities, and remediation efforts through completion
• Prepare and present technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership and government customers

The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME must have:

• Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance
• 15+ years of experience supporting cybersecurity, information assurance, or systems security engineering efforts within DoD or Intelligence Community environments
• Extensive experience implementing and managing cybersecurity requirements within the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
• Strong knowledge of NIST, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices
• Experience supporting classified networks, systems, and mission environments
• Proven experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks while supporting mission and operational objectives
• Experience developing security architectures, implementing security controls, and supporting Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities
• Demonstrated leadership and recognized expertise as a cybersecurity subject matter expert

The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME must meet the following:

• Masters’ degree: Arts (MA), Science (MS), or Engineering (ME)
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education
• DoD 8170 IASAE Level III. (IAM Level III with relevant experience may be considered as a substitute)

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required.

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen.

The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
