Location: Bentonville, Virginia (Shenandoah Valley) Position Type: Full-Time Seasonal (April–October) Reports To: Operations Manager Compensation: Competitive seasonal wage between $17-$26/hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Overview
We're seeking a reliable, physically fit Customer Transportation Specialist to be the backbone of our outfitting operations. You'll safely transport customers and premium outdoor equipment to and from launch and pick-up locations, ensuring every trip starts and ends smoothly. This role is perfect for someone who loves the outdoors, takes pride in customer service, and thrives in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Transport: Safely drive customers and outdoor gear (canoes, kayaks, paddles, PFDs) to designated launch and pick-up sites using buses, van, trucks and trailers.
- Equipment Handling: Load, unload, and secure boats and gear (up to 90 lbs. per item) onto trailers and vehicles, preventing damage and ensuring proper weight distribution.
- Customer Engagement: Provide friendly, professional customer service; answer basic questions about paddling, safety, river conditions, and trip logistics.
- Equipment and Site Maintenance: Assist in organizing, inspecting, and maintaining outfitting equipment, storage areas, and facilities; report maintenance issues promptly.
- Vehicle Safety: Perform routine pre-trip vehicle and trailer safety checks; identify and report mechanical issues to management.
- Operational Support: Coordinate with team members to stage equipment for large groups and manage multiple trips efficiently.
- Professional Representation: Embody our company values of safety, reliability, and customer focus in every interaction.
Required:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Proven experience driving vehicles with trailers (canoe/kayak trailer experience strongly preferred).
Ability to lift, carry, and load equipment weighing up to 90 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort interacting with diverse customer groups.
Punctual, responsible, and safety-conscious mindset.
Physical fitness and stamina for an active outdoor role.
Preferred:
Familiarity with local waterways, outdoor safety practices, and paddling techniques.
CPR/First Aid certification (we'll support certification if you don't have it).
Prior experience in outdoor recreation, hospitality, or customer service.
Knowledge of vehicle and trailer maintenance basics.
Class B with P endorsement.
Work Environment & Conditions
Outdoor Role: Work in varied weather conditions (sun, rain, wind) throughout the operating season.
Physical Demands: Active role requiring strength, endurance, and comfort with repetitive lifting and loading.
Flexible Schedule: Early morning, evening, and weekend shifts based on customer demand. Peak season (May–September) includes high-volume weekend operations.
Team-Oriented: Collaborate with a small, tight-knit seasonal team in a fast-paced environment.
