Cost Engineer

The Cost Engineer is responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost calculations for new products.

This role leads the estimation of initial costs for materials, sheet metal fabrication, weldments, CNC‑machined components, complex assemblies, and outsourced operations.

Acting as a critical bridge between Sales and Engineering, the Cost Engineer translates technical requirements into reliable cost models and supports informed make‑or‑buy decisions in collaboration with the supply chain.

This position plays a key role in ensuring competitive pricing, manufacturability, and cost transparency from project inception.

• Collaborate with Sales to obtain and verify all information necessary to perform accurate project assessments and quotations.
• Review and evaluate customer Technical Product Documentation (TPD) to determine manufacturing requirements and feasibility.
• Identify material requirements and perform preliminary cost analysis, including supply chain considerations.
• Apply a working understanding of material properties and identify equivalent or alternative materials as required.
• Support the Supply Chain team in identifying, qualifying, and onboarding new suppliers for new or expanded manufacturing processes.
