The Cost Accountant role requires competencies in the NFP business environment, reporting, accounting systems, data analysis, and cost management.
Acquired Competencies
- Understand the NFP business environment and objectives and apply internal policies and procedures effectively.
- Communicate information clearly, concisely, and effectively in verbal and written form.
- Monitor, collect, and analyze data from multiple sources and prepare accurate reports.
- Use standard equipment, office automation systems, software, and accounting or ERP systems effectively.
- Gather and analyze data, respond to complex situations, and develop solutions that add value to NFP.
- Use organizational and planning skills to manage work and project activities efficiently.
- Use national and foreign languages in spoken and written communication.
Cost Accounting Responsibilities
- Report and analyze operational metrics and KPIs.
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine their cost effects.
- Analyze actual production costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs with actual costs.
- Record cost information used to control expenditures.
- Prepare estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
- Recommend cost efficiencies in new product layouts.
- Apportion costs between units of production and management.
