Cost Accountant

Job Purpose

Standard Costing and BOM

• Maintain and validate multi-level BOMs covering cable manufacturing processes and materials such as copper, aluminium, compounds, armor, fillers, and packaging.
• Improve BOM accuracy, maintain manufacturing cost master data, and review scrap, wastage, and process-loss factors against actual performance.
• Run periodic and annual standard-cost updates, aligning metal standards with the agreed LME or costing-price basis.
• Validate new-product costings and assess engineering change note and BOM revision impacts.

Routing and Time Variance

• Evaluate routings and work-center data for drawing, stranding, extrusion, armoring, and sheathing operations.
• Monitor standard-versus-actual production time and quantify cost impact across machine, setup, idle, rework, maintenance, and downtime activities.
• Identify root causes of time variance and work with Production Engineering to maintain realistic standards.

Materials and Production Reporting

• Reconcile actual material consumption with BOM standards and report usage, yield, scrap, reclaim, over-issue, and inventory variances.
• Ensure accurate ERP production confirmations, order completions, WIP movements, yield reporting, goods receipts, and material postings.
• Monitor WIP ageing, open work orders, and production-order closing procedures across plants.

Maintenance and Period Close

• Analyze planned and corrective maintenance orders, spares, external services, repair costs, and cost per machine.
• Support month-end close through order settlement, WIP and variance calculations, overhead absorption, inventory valuation, and COGS analysis.
• Prepare plant cost reports, variance bridges, conversion-cost analysis, and inventory reconciliations.

Business Partnering and Capex

• Partner with plant and operations leadership to provide cost transparency and decision support.
• Evaluate shop-floor capex proposals using savings, yield, throughput, quality, payback, NPV, and IRR analysis.
• Track benefits realization for approved capital expenditure against the original business case.

Performance and Capacity

• Conduct time-and-motion studies to validate routing standards and identify bottlenecks and productivity opportunities.
• Evaluate production capacity, machine utilization, labor utilization, constraints, and underutilized resources.
• Analyze and report Overall Equipment Effectiveness across manufacturing plants.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold a CMA, ICWA, CIMA, or equivalent professional cost and management accounting qualification.
• Have approximately 4–7 years of cost accounting experience.
• Manufacturing experience in cable, wire, metals, process, or discrete production is preferred.
• Have strong knowledge of standard costing, product costing, and variance analysis in manufacturing.

Technical and System Skills

• SAP CO, Product Costing, Material Ledger, PM, or an equivalent ERP is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel is required; familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI and large datasets is advantageous.
• Understanding of LME-linked metal costing and inventory valuation is advantageous.
