This role oversees the accounting team, manages the monthly and annual close processes, prepares financial statements, supports budgeting and forecasting, and provides financial analysis to senior leadership.

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable.
Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis.

Present financial reports to executive leadership.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
Ensure accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Review Monthly on Income Statements, Balance Sheet, Receivables, EBITA to President
Supervise and mentor the accounting team.
Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations, including GST/HST, PST, payroll remittances, and corporate income tax requirements.
Coordinate annual external audits and tax filings.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting regulations and corporate policies.
Engage with Franchises on accounting tasks related to franchisees
Audit franchise compliance
Coordinate the annual budgeting process.
Assist with forecasting and long-term financial planning.
Monitor departmental budgets and recommend corrective actions.
Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling and analysis.
Improve accounting procedures and financial reporting processes.
Lead ERP (JD Edwards) and accounting system implementations or upgrades.
Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.
Ensure data integrity within financial systems.
Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with department leaders to support business objectives.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA Canada) designation required.
3–5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
3–5+ years in a leadership or controller role.
Experience managing audits and financial reporting.
Experience with Canadian tax compliance and payroll regulations.
