Core Infrastructure Engineer 2

As a Software Engineer on the Virtual Networking Gateways team, you will design, build, maintain, and test automation for provisioning, deploying, managing, and operating OCI virtual networking fleets.

You will participate directly in fleet operations and change management.

You will work primarily in Terraform and Python, contributing to our deployment pipelines.

You will improve reliability by writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as well as by creating and maintaining operational runbooks.

You will manage your assigned work, maintain clear status in the team’s work-tracking system, and triage overlapping requests from partner service teams. This role requires the judgment to assess requests in the context of fleet scale, available capacity, operational risk, and cost; recognize when a request is disproportionate to the existing environment; and engage partner teams directly to clarify requirements and develop feasible approaches, escalating when appropriate.

Candidates should have a foundational understanding of virtual networking and be comfortable owning well-scoped tasks with limited day-to-day direction.

Familiarity with C++, experience supporting infrastructure in a hyperscale cloud environment, and experience building infrastructure or tooling for automated testing are beneficial but not required.
