Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

This department is a unit within the Vice-President Research & Innovation portfolio. The purpose of the Ethics process is to protect the research participants. In doing so, this team works closely with faculty researchers and with the Research Ethics Board (REB).

About the Role

In this role you will provide comprehensive and timely assistance to the research community in navigating the research ethics review and oversight process(es). You support the work of the REB by working with researchers to ensure applications are complete, consistent and compliant with required standards prior to the study being reviewed by the Board. You will also assist with the study review process – helping the Board to determine if the study meets the requirements of the many different regulations we work under.

This role would be well suited to experienced research project managers, and/or clinical trials/data assistants/coordinator/monitors. The ideal candidate for this role is a person with well-developed relationship building and administrative skills, preferably in clinical or behavioral research ethics. They will be able to bring efficient, effective, pragmatic, and innovative solutions to support participants, the SFU REB, and the research community.
