Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required security clearance and complete all required background screening requirements to work in a correctional facility.

The Cook Assistant supports the preparation, cooking, and distribution of meals within a correctional facility. Working under the supervision of the Cook Supervisor, the incumbent assists with food preparation, maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards, receives and stores supplies, and helps ensure the safe and efficient operation of the kitchen. The Cook Assistant is responsible for adhering to correctional facility security protocols, food safety regulations, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals according to established menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and production schedules.
- Prepare ingredients and food items by washing, cutting, measuring, portioning, and assembling products for meal service.
- Support meal service and distribution activities , ensuring appropriate portion control and adherence to food quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen facilities, equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas in accordance with food safety regulations and institutional procedures.
- Receive, inspect, store, and rotate food products and supplies following inventory control and food storage requirements.
