Cook

Employment status: Term Employment until June 30, 2027

The role of the cook will involve planning, preparing and delivering light, healthy lunches to school-aged children in the before and after-school program.

The cook will ensure the kitchen is clean, sanitized, and always safe.

• Assemble, cook and prepare light lunch menu items;
• Modify menu items for children with strict food allergies or restrictions;
• Deliver prepared lunches daily to the school;
• Plan menus, determine appropriate food portions for school-aged children;
• Clean, sanitize and maintain kitchen and food preparation areas;
• Order, track and stock food, kitchen supplies and equipment;
• May supervise kitchen helpers;
• Other duties as assigned.

• Culinary course and/or food service experience, preferred
• Food Handlers Certification required.
• Fluency in Mi’kmaq strongly recommended
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
