Position Description
The Convenience Store Manager provides leadership and operational oversight of Wally’s convenience store department. This role ensures shelves, coolers, and displays are consistently stocked, organized, and merchandised to Wally’s standards. The C-Store Manager is responsible for supervising team leads and members, managing vendor relations, maintaining accurate inventory levels, overseeing ordering, and driving guest service excellence.
As a member of the management team, the C-Store Manager upholds Wally’s standard operating procedures, policies, and values of Wally’s Hospitality, while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth. C-Store Managers typically work a minimum 50-hour work week (during peak season) as well as weekends and holidays.
Leadership & Supervision
Direct, coach, and mentor C-Store Leads and team members to ensure strong performance.
Oversee training and development by utilizing Wally’s Training Program and scheduled touchpoints.
Manage time and attendance for assigned personnel, including scheduling and PTO approval.
Conduct performance evaluations and corrective action processes in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure adequate labor is scheduled to meet department objectives and guest service standards.
Inventory & Purchasing
Oversee accurate receiving, unpacking, and stocking of grab-and-go food, beverages, and convenience items.
Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) practices are consistently followed for product rotation.
Manage food and C-Store ordering accurately and in a timely manner using established par levels, sales data, and seasonal trends.
Maintain accurate inventory levels, including correcting negative inventory, conducting audits, and completing spot counts.
Ensure invoice entries are completed accurately in PDI for C-Store items.
Monitor cooler levels, backstock areas, and merchandising displays to ensure accuracy and readiness.
Vendor & Merchandising Management
Manage vendor relations for the C-Store in partnership with the General Manager and Corporate Operations.
Ensure C-Store deliveries are received, verified, and properly merchandised on the floor.
Support merchandising resets, seasonal displays, and promotional layouts to drive sales.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to optimize product mix, pricing, and placement.
Guest Service & Hospitality
Model and ensure delivery of professional, courteous guest service by all team members.
Step in to resolve guest concerns quickly and effectively.
Partner with the Loss Prevention Team when incidents arise; complete proper LP documentation.
Model Aggressive Hospitality to de-escalate situations and protect the Wally’s guest experience.
Uphold high standards of cleanliness, product presentation, and store appearance.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce Wally’s safety standards and ensure compliance with all food and beverage handling procedures.
Conduct regular checks of coolers, beverage stations, and storage areas to maintain safe, clutter-free conditions.
Address and report hazards, damaged goods, or equipment issues promptly.
Administrative & Reporting
Communicate department performance, issues, and needs to the General Manager and Corporate Operations.
Maintain accurate records of orders, product counts, invoices, and stock movement.
Responsible for achieving department and store budgetary goals.
Prepare reports on labor, sales, and inventory performance as requested.
Team Communication & Collaboration
Serve as the primary point of contact between C-Store Leads, team members, and store leadership.
Collaborate with other department managers (Kitchen, Retail, Maintenance, Fuel, Cashier, etc.) to ensure smooth store operations.
Support lateral departments during high traffic times as needed.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager or Store Leadership.
- Uphold Wally’s values of teamwork, professionalism, and excellence in every aspect of leadership.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 2+ years of related management experience in retail, convenience, or food service.
- Prior experience in inventory management, ordering, and vendor relations strongly preferred.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on the store’s busiest days including weekends and holidays, and maintain a flexible schedule.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The position also requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and reach with hands and arms.

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
