Role Overview

The Controls Software Engineer II will develop, integrate, validate, and support Battery Management System software for xEV and advanced battery applications.

The role supports requirements definition, controls algorithm development, software implementation, calibration, testing, and system integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop battery control algorithms for state of charge, state of health, state of power, charging, diagnostics, balancing, and safety.
  • Support calibration, tuning, and optimization of battery algorithms.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, validation, and customer engineering teams.
  • Develop and execute software verification and validation plans, including unit, integration, HIL, vehicle, and system-level testing.
  • Debug software, analyze test data, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Create requirements, design, test, validation, and release documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Two to five years of experience developing embedded, controls, or Battery Management System software.
  • Experience with C/C++ software development for embedded systems.
  • Experience with software design, implementation, debugging, testing, and verification.
  • Understanding of battery management systems, lithium-ion batteries, and battery system operation.
  • Familiarity with controls development methodologies and model-based design concepts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive, xEV, off-highway vehicle, or industrial vehicle application experience is preferred.
  • MATLAB/Simulink, HIL/SIL testing, calibration, battery integration, or automotive communication protocol experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive development processes and standards is preferred.
  • Experience with customer integration, field issue resolution, or AI engineering tools is preferred.
