Role Overview

Baker Hughes is hiring a Control Field Service Engineer, internally titled Field Specialist IV - SVS - CTRL.

The role represents Baker Hughes technically and professionally while installing, maintaining, commissioning, and starting up control equipment at customer sites.

The work covers oilfield, power-generation, and industrial facilities, including offshore and remote locations.

Field Service Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical direction for control-system installation, loop checks, system tests, start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Supervise positioning and wiring of control panels, including electrical, pneumatic, primary, and field wiring connections.
  • Check control sequencing for turbine and driven-equipment auxiliary systems.
  • Lead installation, maintenance, commissioning, and site activities against schedule, quality, and HSE targets.
  • Prepare job-planning documents for installation, upgrades, and outages.
  • Provide technical direction to skilled labor and maintain Baker Hughes and customer safety standards.
  • Prepare daily outage, weekly installation, and technical reports.
  • Communicate with service, installation, project, and site managers about job execution and personnel movements.
  • Participate in customer and contractor meetings and apply required quality procedures.
  • Complete quality checklists, job cards, field procedures, marked-up drawings, and non-conformity follow-up.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree and at least seven years of relevant oil and gas or energy field experience.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating-equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on expertise with HDGT Frame 5/2 and 6B gas turbines and BH/NP centrifugal compressors.
  • High expertise and hands-on knowledge of Mark VIe and Mark VI control panels.
  • High expertise in instrumentation activities and knowledge of PLC control panels.
  • Experience with DLN systems mapping.
  • Fitness to work onshore, offshore, and in remote areas.
  • Fluent spoken and written English for reports, customer interaction, and technical alignment.
  • Strong customer-service orientation, communication, analytical, quality-improvement, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision and maintain an HSE mindset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 70% without geographical restriction, including offshore travel.

  • The role involves extensive field work at customer-owned sites, including onshore, offshore, remote, oilfield, power-generation, and industrial facilities.
