Overview

  • Under the overall supervision of the Protection Coordinator, with the direct supervision of the Protection Officer (GBV); and in close coordination with the Protection Officers and in collaboration with the rest of the Protection unit, the successful candidate will be responsible to support implementing and coordinating IOM s gender-based violence (GBV) response, prevention, and mitigation activities, ensuring adherence to IOM s Gender-Based Violence in Crisis (GBViC) Framework and Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines on Protection and GBV for IOM Qatar-Camp As Sayliyah (CAS) operation.
  • Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of GBV activities, particularly in line with Inter-Agency Minimum Standards for GBV in Emergencies, Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) GBV Case Management Guidelines, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for GBV and Protection. Reinforce adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all protection activities
  • Ensure response work with survivors and beneficiaries, including case management and psychosocial interventions, adheres to best-practice principles when working with survivors of GBV.
  • Hold regular planning and debriefing sessions with team members at community-based women and girl safe spaces (WGSS).
  • Mentor and support staff professional development and foster a positive team spirit to encourage innovative and quality programming in WGSS.
  • Identify training needs for GBV Case Workers, GBV Community Ambassadors, and support organization and facilitation of training to meet those needs, in collaboration with the organization s Protection Officer (GBV).
  • Work closely with GBV staff and community volunteers to design activities that respond to identified needs.
  • Prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s) that support and achieve activities.
  • Provide direct support and ongoing mentoring to WGSS staff as they provide services to women and girl survivors of GBV. This will include assessment of beneficiaries' needs; basic, crisis counseling (and in some contexts further individual counseling); development of action plans with beneficiaries; support to beneficiaries in pursuing services and support.
  • Develop and implement a series of age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services to be provided to vulnerable women and girls, aimed at meeting the needs of survivors of GBV.
  • Ensure the existence of a confidential space for case management and individual counselling.
  • Oversee and provide guidance for age-appropriate and relevant psychosocial activities for women and adolescent girls in WGSS.
  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols by all relevant organizations and agencies.
  • Support the identification of GBV focal points in the transit camp.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other implementing organizations and agencies.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and three-month work plans in a timely manner, and incorporate supervisor feedback as requested; Compile monthly activity report for submission.
  • Ensure that all relevant financial documentation is accurately completed and submitted.
  • Ensure that attendance records and other reporting tools are implemented and routinely provided to relevant staff, including the Protection Officer (GBV) and the Protection Coordinator.
  • Monitor data collection to ensure that staff collect data in safe and ethical ways.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationships with the partner and other sector staff
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings as requested by supervisor.
