Role Overview

Provide advanced anesthesia care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.

Work across elective, emergency, and high-risk surgical settings.

Deliver evidence-based practice aligned with international standards and UAE regulatory requirements.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct pediatric preoperative assessment and risk stratification.
  • Manage intraoperative anesthesia, including airway control, ventilation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Manage anesthesia for complex pediatric and neonatal surgeries.
  • Oversee postoperative recovery, pain management, and sedation protocols.
  • Support PICU and NICU teams with airway management and procedural sedation.
  • Participate in pediatric emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilization.

Quality, Teaching, and Development

  • Ensure adherence to pediatric anesthesia safety standards and clinical guidelines.
  • Contribute to audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Teach and supervise residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Participate in simulation-based emergency training, research, and academic activities.
  • Contribute to departmental policies, clinical pathways, and patient-safety programs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent.
  • Completed Anesthesiology residency and recognized Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship or subspecialty training.
  • Board certification through an accepted board or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for a DOH/HAAD Consultant License.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-consultant pediatric anesthesia experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated neonatal and pediatric airway expertise is required.
  • Tertiary-care or high-volume pediatric surgical center experience is advantageous.
