We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare facility in Dubai.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of a broad range of eye conditions, while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities* Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic consultations and eye examinations.

  • Diagnose and manage a broad range of ocular conditions affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.
  • Perform appropriate ophthalmic surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Evaluate and manage cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal conditions, and other eye diseases.
  • Perform cataract surgery and other relevant procedures where qualified.
  • Manage emergency ophthalmic presentations and provide timely treatment.
  • Interpret ophthalmic diagnostic investigations, including OCT, visual fields, fundus imaging, and other relevant tests.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
  • Provide preoperative assessments and postoperative care and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, anesthesiologists, and other specialists.
  • Provide consultations and second opinions for complex ophthalmic cases.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities where applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications* Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

  • Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology, in accordance with applicable UAE licensing requirements.
  • Additional fellowship or advanced training in a relevant ophthalmic subspecialty is desirable.
  • Eligible for or holding a valid DHA Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.
  • Demonstrated experience in ophthalmic diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures.
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in cataract surgery and other relevant ophthalmic procedures is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
