Role Overview
Construction Manager – Civil role for an EHV substation project in Abu Dhabi.
The role requires civil engineering expertise and hands-on execution experience in high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substations.
Project Scope and Responsibilities
- Manage civil execution for substation buildings, equipment foundations, piling, excavation, and shoring.
- Oversee underground services, cable trenches, duct banks, drainage, roads, external works, and structural concrete.
- Coordinate civil construction with electrical and MEP activities.
- Manage engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, manpower, construction planning, quality, HSE, and daily client and consultant coordination.
- Address TAQA requirements, permit-to-work processes, consultants, and local authorities.
Candidate Requirements
- Civil engineering background.
- Strong hands-on experience with 132 kV, 220 kV, and/or 400 kV substation civil works.
- Experience across the listed substation civil construction activities.
- Strong site management capability.
- 12–15+ years of overall experience is ideally sought, including substantial HV/EHV substation civil construction experience.
Preferred Experience
- TAQA Transmission or TRANSCO project experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working in existing or live substations is particularly preferred.
Work Location
- The project location is Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- The role involves on-site construction management for an EHV substation project.
