Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Configuration Management Plan and procedures
- Maintain configuration identification of project deliverables including documents, drawings, and system components including Software
- Manage version control and ensure proper baseline definition and control
- Track and record configuration changes and ensure proper approval workflows
- Maintain configuration status accounting and reporting
- Ensure traceability between requirements, design documents, and system deliverables
- Coordinate with document control teams to ensure proper document configuration management
- Support change control processes and configuration audits
- Assist in managing interfaces between configuration management and requirements management
- Ensure compliance with project standards, procedures, and configuration policies
- Participate in configuration review meetings and audits (FCA and PCA)
- Prepare configuration status and accounting reports, Change Management status and updates using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint
Requirements
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in configuration management within metro, railway, or major infrastructure projects
- Experience working in structured engineering or system environments
- Good understanding of configuration management principles, processes, and tools such as CMDB, JIRA, POLARION, IBM Rational DOORS, etc.
- Experience in document control, version control, and change management
- Experience in multi disciplinary and cross functional project environments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Management, or related discipline

About the Role
- CRRC is seeking a detail oriented and technically disciplined Configuration Engineer to support configuration management activities for a major metro or railway project.
- The role is responsible for implementing configuration management processes, ensuring proper identification, control, status accounting, and traceability of project deliverables including requirements across all disciplines.
- Operating within a complex, multi disciplinary rail environment, the Configuration Engineer will work closely with disciplines including engineering, document control, system Engineering and System assurance, and project teams to maintain configuration integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in configuration management within metro, railway, or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in structured engineering or system environments.
- Good understanding of configuration management principles, processes, tools such as CMDB, JIRA, POLARION, IBM Rational DOORS, DOORSNG, Comply Pro, Maximo, IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Engineering Workflow Management, IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management, ClearCase, ClearQuest etc., and processes.
- Experience in document control, version control, and change management.
- Experience in multi disciplinary and cross functional project environments.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience on metro or railway projects.
- Experience in a consortium or joint venture environment.
- Familiarity with system engineering lifecycle and requirements management.
- Exposure and understanding of Project Management, Contract and Claim management, system assurance, BIM, Asset Management, RAMS, V&V, Interface and Integration, Testing and Commissioning and Handover processes in Railways.
Technical Skills Mandatory
- Knowledge of configuration management processes and Standards (identification, control, status accounting, audits).
- Familiarity with document management systems (DMS) or Common Data Environment (CDE), Database management, Database Configuration, Excel.
- Basic understanding of requirements management tools is an advantage.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage data accuracy and traceability.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Management, or related discipline.
- Certification or training in configuration management is an advantage.
