- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for excavation, backfill, footings, slabs, piers, walls, and site concrete.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure a complete scope of work .
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
- Prepare and submit bid forms, proposals, cost breakdowns, and alternative pricing options .
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Stay informed on market trends, labor costs, and material pricing .
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, general contractors, and trade partners during the bid process.
- Actively participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and challenges.
- Develop and maintain relationships with GCs, owners, and developers to secure new opportunities.
- Confidently present estimates and project proposals to internal teams and clients.
- Support business development efforts by providing market insights and competitor analysis .
- Utilize estimating and bid management software (e.g., ProContractor, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected).
- Implement best practices for bid tracking, historical cost analysis, and process efficiency .
- Support the integration of new technology and data-driven estimating strategies .
- Experience in concrete estimating (commercial, industrial, multi-family preferred).
- Strong knowledge of concrete construction, formwork systems, and reinforcing techniques .
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software (ProContractor, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents .
- Strong mathematical skills , attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to visit project sites.
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field .
- Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and bid platforms (BuildingConnected, SmartBid).
