Role Overview

Join the field team as a hands-on Computer Network Technician.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer, network, and security systems at client sites across the Lower Mainland.

The role suits someone who enjoys fieldwork, problem-solving, and direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber structured cabling and network racks.
  • Configure and deploy switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
  • Install and commission CCTV/NVR systems, IP cameras, and related security equipment.
  • Perform site surveys, document network layouts, and prepare as-built drawings and reports.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi-Fi coverage, and performance issues at client sites.
  • Set up and support client workstations, printers, NAS devices, and basic server environments.
  • Label, organize, and maintain network rooms and racks according to industry best practices.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, provide status updates, and complete service reports.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and maintain clean, safe work sites.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in computer networking, IT, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 1–3 years of experience in network installation, field IT support, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with structured cabling, network racks, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and basic routing and switching.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting, including access point mounting, site surveys, and signal testing.
  • Experience with CCTV/IP camera installation and basic NVR configuration.
  • Familiarity with vendors such as Ubiquiti, Cisco, Aruba, TP-Link, Hikvision, Dahua, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently at client sites.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel between sites.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certification such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CWNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, basic server, Windows, or Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience creating quotes, reports, and basic network documentation.

  • Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle allowance, as applicable.
