Role Overview
The role focuses on plasma physics and multiphysics simulation for fusion plasmas and reactor systems.
The position develops high-fidelity numerical models to understand plasma behaviour, optimize reactor configurations, predict performance, and guide engineering design.
The work combines plasma physics, numerical methods, high-performance computing, and fusion engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fusion plasma models using MHD, kinetic, fluid, hybrid, and particle-based approaches.
- Simulate equilibrium, stability, confinement, transport, heating, particle behaviour, and other fusion plasma phenomena.
- Develop multiphysics models coupling plasma behaviour with electromagnetics, thermal systems, structural mechanics, and reactor physics.
- Build reduced-order and system-level models, and perform parameter sweeps, sensitivity analyses, and optimization.
- Validate and benchmark simulation codes against analytical models, published results, and experimental data.
