Role Overview

The Compliance Officer will oversee guest and employee privacy across a global portfolio of luxury hotels.

The role is responsible for protecting the brand’s reputation through ethical and legal compliance.

Policy Development and Governance

  • Create, update, and implement data protection policies, standards, and procedures tailored to hospitality.
  • Align local hotel practices with the Corporate Privacy Framework and regional legal requirements.
  • Maintain Records of Processing Activities for corporate and property-level functions.

Monitoring and Auditing

  • Monitor GDPR and other privacy-law compliance through gap analyses and internal audits.
  • Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments for new technologies, loyalty programs, and marketing initiatives.
  • Evaluate vendors and partners and ensure Data Processing Agreements are in place.

Advisory and Training

  • Provide pragmatic privacy advice to the business, including guidance on Privacy by Design.
  • Design and deliver data protection training for corporate staff and hotel management teams worldwide.
  • Oversee Data Subject Access Requests and right-to-be-forgotten queries.

Incident Management

  • Lead data breach response and ensure timely notification to authorities and affected individuals.
  • Conduct post-incident analyses to strengthen technical and organizational measures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, IT, or Business Administration.
  • At least five years of compliance experience, preferably in luxury hospitality or travel.
  • Fluent English is mandatory; a second language is a plus.
  • Strong background in Corporate/M&A, Real Estate, or Hospitality Law.
  • CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT certifications are highly preferred.
