Position Summary
The Commissioning Technician supports the startup, testing, and commissioning of utility-scale microgrid systems, including natural gas generators & engines and electrical infrastructure. This role ensures systems are safely installed, energized, and operating as designed prior to handoff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support commissioning of natural gas generators, switchgear, substations, transformers, and balance of plant equipment
Perform functional testing, loop checks, energization, synchronization, and system validation
Assist with commissioning of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and distribution equipment
Support startup and integration of generation assets into microgrid and SCADA systems
Assist in installation and commissioning of synchronous condensers (electrical and mechanical)
Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and document results, punch list items, and deficiencies
Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineers, and OEM vendors during startup activities
Follow all safety protocols including LOTO and site-specific requirements
Large engine or generator mechanical knowledge experience is a plus
Other Requirements
2+ years of experience in commissioning, construction, or maintenance of power generation or utility-scale electrical systems
