Role Overview
PPA is supporting a hyperscale data centre project in Qatar and is seeking a commissioning expert who can mobilise within two weeks.
The role is the single focal point and overall commissioning authority for the Client, PMC, End User, General Contractor, and Commissioning Agent.
Commissioning covers L1 through L5 Integrated Systems Testing through operational handover.
Commissioning Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, governance, and technical oversight across Electrical, Mechanical, and ELV commissioning.
- Manage and direct the Commissioning Manager and Discipline Commissioning Leads.
- Lead development, review, and approval of commissioning, tagging, FAT, load bank testing, method statement, SOO, IST, and turnover documentation.
- Chair commissioning meetings, technical reviews, workshops, and stakeholder coordination sessions.
- Monitor progress, readiness, risks, deficiencies, corrective actions, milestones, and testing objectives.
- Lead resolution of critical technical issues, non-conformances, and interface challenges.
- Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations to the Client, PMC, and End User.
- Ensure system acceptance, operational readiness, and final facility handover.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with L1 through L5 commissioning, including Integrated Systems Testing and Functional Performance Testing.
- Knowledge of FAT and Load Bank Testing procedures.
- Experience developing and validating Sequences of Operation.
- Experience commissioning Electrical, Mechanical, and ELV systems for hyperscale data centres.
- Knowledge of operational readiness and facility handover best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years of commissioning experience, including mission-critical and data centre projects.
- Proven expertise leading L1 through L5 Integrated Systems Testing, operational readiness, and project handover.
- Strong leadership, governance, technical oversight, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills.
- Fluent English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
- The successful candidate must be able to mobilise at short notice within two weeks.
