Role Overview
The Commis Chef supports kitchen preparation, food service, hygiene, and smooth daily kitchen operations.
The role involves working with senior chefs and the wider kitchen team in a hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare kitchen equipment and workstations before service.
- Assemble ingredients and prepare simple menu items according to recipes and standards.
- Assist with food preparation for service and follow portion control and presentation standards.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries using FIFO and food safety guidelines.
- Clean storage areas, kitchen surfaces, equipment, and workstations.
- Handle waste, recycling, and linen according to hygiene procedures.
- Complete food safety checklists and comply with HACCP and internal safety protocols.
- Support senior chefs, attend briefings, and participate in training sessions.
Requirements
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and a hygienic work environment.
- Follow all food safety standards, personal hygiene rules, HACCP requirements, and internal safety protocols.
- Work a flexible schedule based on operational requirements.
- Participate actively in kitchen briefings and on-the-job training.
