Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and underwrite property, engineering, and miscellaneous proposals, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and make informed decisions regarding coverage and premiums.
  • Collaborate with brokers and clients to understand their unique needs and provide tailored insurance solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to ensure competitive and compliant underwriting practices.
  • Review and analyze policy applications, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate coverage options.
  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing excellent customer service and timely responses.
  • Work closely with the underwriting team to share knowledge and best practices, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your underwriting skills and stay abreast of industry advancements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing underwriting strategies to achieve business goals and maintain a strong book of business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance, insurance, or risk management.
  • Minimum 7-8 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, with a focus on property, engineering, and miscellaneous lines.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, including Marine and Liability, is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed recommendations.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools to efficiently process and evaluate proposals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in underwriting processes and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and continuously develop underwriting expertise.
