Responsibilities
- Plan and assign daily machining tasks, prioritizing schedules to meet customer delivery dates
- Oversee or assist with complex CNC setups, tooling selection, and program optimization to reduce cycle times and material waste
- Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and evaluate machine capability in cutting various grades of metal
- Verify the first manufactured part against engineering prints, GD&T requirements, and tolerance specifications
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to identify root causes of non conforming parts and implement corrective actions
- Train, mentor, and cross train operators on new CNC equipment, safety protocols, and best practices
- Evaluate operator performance, manage shift handovers, and establish clear departmental goals
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule routine upkeep and minimize unplanned CNC downtime
Requirements
- College degree or diploma, combined with a technical degree, vocational training, or certification in CNC Machining/Manufacturing
- 3–5 years of hands on CNC experience
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead machinist role
- Proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints, GD&T, and operating CNC controls
- Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, EdgeCAM) is a major asset
- Strong leadership, analytical problem solving capabilities, and effective communication skills

- Ensure equipment produces precision parts efficiently, uphold safety protocols, and collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to meet delivery targets.
Production & Operations
- Workflow Management: Plan and assign daily machining tasks, prioritizing schedules to meet customer delivery dates.
- Setup & Programming: Oversee or assist with complex CNC setups, tooling selection, and program optimization to reduce cycle times and material waste.
- Efficiency Monitoring: Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and evaluate machine capability in cutting various grades of metal.
Quality Control
- First Off Inspections: Verify the first manufactured part against engineering prints, GD&T requirements, and tolerance specifications.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Collaborate with Quality Assurance to identify root causes of non conforming parts and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Training
- Staff Development: Train, mentor, and cross train operators on new CNC equipment, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Performance Management: Evaluate operator performance, manage shift handovers, and establish clear departmental goals.
Equipment & Maintenance

Essential Qualifications
- Education: College degree or diploma, combined with a technical degree, vocational training, or certification in CNC Machining/Manufacturing.
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands on CNC experience, preferably with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead machinist role.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and operating CNC controls. Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, EdgeCAM) is a major asset.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical problem solving capabilities, and effective communication skills.
